Two-color EDM master page
Two-color EDM
These pages contain results from measuring changes in distances using
a two-color Electronic Distance Meter (EDM). Measurements are made in
three different regions in California.
Parkfield
This link shows the data from the two-color EDM network located at Parkfield, California.
The USGS has a cluster of instruments at Parkfield to measure changes prior, during
and after a moderate sized (M6) earthquake. Parkfield is located on the San Andreas
fault and the town is about half way between San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Long Valley
This link shows data from the two-color EDM network located near Mammoth Lakes, California.
Mammoth Lakes is within the Long Valley caldera and has had recent, volcanic unrest. The Long
Valley Caldera is located east of the Sierra Nevada mountains.
Southern California
This link shows data from four EDM networks located in Southern California. These data
show strain accumulation on the San Andreas fault system in this region
