Graphic-rich dislocation and stress transfer software

Training at USGS, August 9, 2007

Ross Stein & Volkan Sevilgen (USGS), Shinji Toda (Active Fault Research Center of Japan), and Jian Lin (Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution) gave an 8-hour one-person-per-PC training course on their Coulomb 3.0 software in the new Menlo Resources Center. Eighteen people took the course from the Earthquake, Volcano, Earth Surface Processes, and Water resources Teams. Three U.C. Berkeley and one University of Nevada grad students attended, as well as USGS scientists from Golden and Portland. Stein et al found the Resources Center to a great teaching facility. After the ‘graduation ceremony’ in the center, participants were given a private tour of the Rock Deformation Laboratory by its director, Dave Lockner. Everyone then retired to the Menlo Park restaurant, Sultana, for dinner.
